Sandra - Fabi Unger

I met Sandra through you Hernan, as we knew each other before you started dating, as you and Ron had become friends in business school.  I never thought Sandra and I would become such good friends and would bond in the ways we did. But it was just so natural.  Every moment we spent together was special, filled with love and laughter.  Whenever Sandra was in NC we would find a time to meet, and I have wonderful memories of our times together.  It's hard to put into words, but when I think of her I think of smiles, hugs, and love.  I see flashes of our moments together and everything we shared.  I see the key lime pie she ordered at California Pizza Kitchen last year and how she said they had the 'best key lime pie'; I go through her kind words in the email she sent me on my birthday this year; I remember us running together in Woodcroft a few years back when she was in remission; Partying at 'the Cave' in Chapel Hill; Singing karaoke together (and Sandra could sing well!); Getting burned in a super hot tub in the house we rented in Girdwood, Alaska; talking about our trips and families…and so much more...and what amazed me is how she was always so interested in knowing about me, on how I was doing.  She never let the cancer be the center of anything.  When we were together, it was just the 2 of us, as if she was not sick at all. 

I recently dreamed of her and I woke up feeling so light and happy.  She looked so peaceful, bright, well.  I will always have Sandra with me and her strength will lead me to live a great life.  I believe one day we will meet again, and until that day, I will do my best to make her proud.
